    ABOUT US

 

         Faculty of Technology and Community Development was established by resolution of the Council of Thaksin University No. 8/2540 made on July 12, 1997.  The objectives of the Faculty are to produce graduates in the fields related to agriculture and agro-industry with quality and academic standards to cope with the needs of the employers.  This is consistent with the strategic development and promotion of agriculture and agro-industry for a strong and sustainable socio-economic development specified in the 9th National Social and Economic Development Plan.  The Faculty of Technology and Community Development started offering courses to undergraduate students in Animal Production Technology in 2002.

            On August 2, 2003, the faculty was renamed Faculty of Technology and Community Development providing the teaching under the people centered philosophy for serving the community and society.  The Faculty aims to establish academic excellence of international standards.  Accordingly, two main subjects have been offered in the faculty’s program.  The first group of courses deals with basic scientific knowledge, humanities, social sciences and economics to provide graduates with a broad knowledge and to instill them with ethical values and the appropriate application of knowledge for use in community and social development.  The second group of courses involves the subjects in science and technology related to agriculture and agro-industry to provide graduates with the knowledge, expertise and practical skills in their work.

            In 2005 the Faculty offered two undergraduate programs in Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Technology and Bachelor of Science in Science and Food Technology.  New syllabuses have been improved and developed based on the Thailand Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (TQF), resulting in the offer of additional programs: Bachelor of Science in Plant Science, Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, Bachelor of Science in Science and Food Technology and Master of Science in Sustainable Agricultural Resources Management.
