Woven fabric has been a product that was originated from local wisdom that collected and inherited for long time and becomes cultural heritage. Besides being wearing apparel, woven fabric was also used in various purposes in following to belief, tradition, and culture of each community. Thus, woven fabric has been a handicraft that shows advancement of humanity.
In southern Thailand, archaeological and historical evidences indicated that the community living in the area had advancement in fabric weaving over 3,500-4,500 million years ago. Fabric weaving in the South of Thailand over the previous 1,500-1,000 years had much advancement on fabric weaving such as color dying to thread, process of preparing warp and weft threads, innovation of loom, technique on heddle, as well as silver and gold threads decoration.
Moreover, woven fabrics from the South are on display such as Pha Yok from Nakhon Si Thammarat, Koh Yor Woven Fabric, Pumrieng Woven Fabric, Na Muen Sri Fabric, as well as woven fabrics from other countries such as Jaun Tani Fabric, Leema Fabric, Palanging Fabric, Sarong Fabric, etc.
